Inauguration of solar panels of Certines (FR01)

02/02/2023

Commissioned in March 2022 after six months of construction, the solar power plant is located on the site of TEA, a subsidiary of GCA, specialized in automotive logistics. It was inaugurated on February 2 in the presence of Xavier Breton, Deputy of Ain.

These panels will prevent the release into the atmosphere of nearly 184 tons of CO2 per year (compared to the French electric mix). TotalEnergies has developed and built the 12,000 photovoltaic panels that will produce 6,200 MWh per year. This is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 3,500 people.

TEA is an expert in automotive logistics that is downstream of the production line. The company receives finished vehicles on its compounds. It is specialized in the storage, transport, preparation and reconditioning of new and used vehicles.

The solar installation, developed and operated by TotalEnergies, makes it possible to produce green energy, but also to protect vehicles from the elements. It improves the working conditions of employees on the park in case of high temperatures or bad weather. It finally makes it possible to cope with the new mobility and the arrival of electric vehicles since two charging stations have been installed.

"TotalEnergies is proud to support the energy transition of the Charles André Group. Through this project, GCA is fully aligned with the guidelines of the recently passed law to accelerate renewable energy.” Says Laurent Groleau, East Regional Development Director at TotalEnergies.

Delphine André, President of GCA said:

"This project illustrates our company’s commitment to actively participate in the energy transition while improving customer service and the working conditions of our employees. With the inauguration of this new power plant, GCA has more than 100 hectares of shade in France spread over 11 sites, mainly in automotive logistics. Enough to power a city of 110,000 inhabitants with green energy.”
