Rhonatrans mobilized on a major European exercise
The last MODEX happen in the Lyon region from February 28 to March 3, 2023.
The Ministry of the Interior managed it at national level through the DGSCGC, which relies on the SDMIS.
This exercise focused on chemical, radiological and biological hazards.
It mobilized 153 participants and supervisors from 4 countries of the European Union: France, Germany, Italy, and Romania.
The European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (EUPM) is a solidarity mechanism created in 2001, which strengthens cooperation between the Member States of the European Union. Its objective is to improve prevention, preparedness and response to crises.
Field exercises (MODEX) are held regularly in Europe to test international detachments in real-world conditions.
The privileged relations of the companies of the Group of the Lyon region with the state services (in particular the SDMIS) allowed to be identified and targeted as a company specialized in the transport and logistics of dangerous goods. That is why Rhonatrans was solicited to actively participate in the scenario of this life-size exercise.
The site and the RHONATRANS teams have been in action since Thursday, March 2, from 4:30 am to 11:30 am on exercises and various trays programmed on the RHONATRAN installations. At the same time, in the same geographical area, a RHÔNE pollution exercise was carried out at the Vernaison bridge (69) behind the RHONATRANS site.
We had the honor of welcoming "Madame la Prefète d'Auvergne Rhone-Alpes" during the demonstration (the local State representative in case of crisis)
